PFC's Darrick Dong Presents at Canadian Motorsports Expo

Canadian race car drivers and fans braved -14 C snowy weather to travel to the 6th Annual Canadian Motorsports Expo this past weekend. Performance Friction’s very own Darrick Dong was on hand conducting several seminars both for drivers and fans. The first seminar was held on Friday for fans and covered braking options for road cars. The presentation allowed Darrick to connect with racing fans who are interested in upgrading the braking performance of their street car and was a huge success.

On Saturday, Darrick held a second seminar specific to racing entitled “Advanced Brake Technology.” The expert seminar detailed things every race driver needs to know about braking to improve results and get an edge on the competition. In addition to the seminars presented by Performance Friction at CME, there were presentations on chassis setup and sponsorship.

Check out the video below of Darrick's presentation at the Canadian Motorsports Expo.

The Canadian Motorsports Expo marked the launch of the new Performance Friction 309mm S2 Race Disc for GM style calipers. PFC issued the official press release regarding the disc during the first day of the show. The new S2 rotor was designed specifically with the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series in mind. The double slotted disc features advanced cooling technology, more bite, and fits GM calipers with no overhang or under hang for pads in the 12.16" (309mm) size.

While at the show, the editor of Inside Motorcycles, Lee Kuhn Sr., shared a compelling story with Darrick. After installing Performance Friction pads and fluid on his son’s XR1200 Harley race bike, Lee’s son proceeded to win the very next race. His account of what the PFC pads and fluid did for his son’s bike was exceptional.

Each year since the inception, the Canadian Motorsports Expo has grown significantly. This year there were more than 100 motorsports industry exhibitors including manufacturers, tracks, series, part suppliers, and racing memorabilia vendors. The CME had numerous International and Canadian racing cars on display along with Q&A sessions with some of racing’s biggest names.

Rare Look Inside Performance Friction’s Manufacturing Process

The Speed Channel recently aired a rare look inside Performance Friction’s manufacturing plant in Clover, SC as a part of the NASCAR Performance Show.

On the show, veteran crew chief, Larry McReynolds, is given a tour of the manufacturing facility by Don Burgoon, President of PFC. Viewers are shown a basic overview of the process that goes into making every Carbon Metallic® Race Pad and Street Pad. After the pad process, the guys head to the rotor area where castings are turned into championship winning race discs using the most advance machining equipment in the world. Next, they make a stop at the dyno testing facility and then top off the tour with a look at the latest brake cooling systems for motorsports.

Another Win for Berk Technology with PFC Z-Rated® Brake Kits

Berk Technology captured yet another win for Performance Friction ZRated® Brake Kits with their victory in the time-attack portion of the EuroTuner Grand Prix. Each year EuroTuner Magazine puts on a 3-day battle and invites the top US tuning shops to compete. The event includes drag racing, dyno testing, and time attack racing.

When it came to the time attack battle, the brake heavy course was perfectly suited for the Performance Friction ZRated® brake package. Berk Technology ran the fastest lap and gave credit to their Performance Friction ZRated® Brake Kit. Berk Technology and other top time attack teams select Performance Friction ZRated® Brake Kits because they are a stiffer, more responsive, and quicker modulating. This means better drivability, handling and quicker lap times.

At ETGP, Berk Technology driver Carl Rydquist put his years of experience in European GT racing to good use as he piloted the BMW to a dominant win in the time attack competition and a 3rd place overall. "Our team executed our mission beautifully. We approached the race with cautious optimism knowing that we had several other drivers from ALMS and Grand-Am with purpose built racecars in tow. It was a great feeling when we received our trophy for winning the time attack event. Our 3rd place overall finish at ETGP was icing on the cake." said Carl Rydquist, Driver, Berk Technology.

The event is the cover story for the February issue of EuroTuner Magazine and is available at newsstands nationwide.

Performance Friction Scores Win at Daytona with Johnson and Roush Jr.

Performance Friction Scores Win at Daytona with Johnson and Roush Jr.
(Clover, SC) January 31, 2012-

Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr. captured the win at Daytona in their No.61 Ford Mustang Boss 302R GT equipped with Performance Friction ZERO DRAGTM ZR54 calipers, ZRated® race discs, and Carbon Metallic ® Brake Pads in the BMW Performance 200.

Winning GRAND-AM teams and drivers know the secret. Johnson and Roush Jr. celebrated their win on Friday in the first race of the 2012 Continental Sports Car Challenge Series at Daytona. Roush Racing’s No. 61 Ford Mustang Boss 302R GT was equipped with Performance Friction ZERO DRAGTM ZR54 calipers, ZRated® race discs, and Carbon Metallic® brake pads.

"I love this track. There is a lot of history. It’s a very special race to win. I can’t be happier.” Roush Jr. said. The victory was the first GRAND-AM victory for Jack Roush at Daytona. Other notable finishers included BimmerWorld Racing with a podium spot in ST while utilizing PFC race discs and Carbon Metallic ® Race pads.

Despite Friday’s rapidly changing track conditions, Roush teammates, Billy Johnson and Jack Roush Jr. were able to hold off the 82-car field and outperform the competition in every braking zone. The track was wet for most of the race from a persistent light rain, but the rain didn’t slow the two Roush drivers down. There were 6 cautions, for a total of 25 laps, as the track conditions transitioned from an overcast rain to bright sunshine. After 41 laps Roush Jr., who started the car, hit pit lane for the driver change. Billy Johnson climbed aboard and took the No.61 to the lead. Johnson led the final 18 laps and secured the win with two Fall-Line Motorsports BMWs in pursuit.

With a huge win to kick off the 2012 season, Johnson and Roush Jr. now have their sights set on the championship. The next race for the GRAND-AM Series Continental Sports Car Challenge Series is March 30-31 at Barber Motorsports Park.
